Work continues to make notorious intersection safer

The Department of Transport says it is continuing to work with the City of Ballarat to make a notorious rural intersection safer.

Late last month, five people were taken to hospital following an accident at the Ballarat-Carngham Road and Finchs Road intersection.

The Department’s Michael Bailey says lowering the speed limit is one option.

“It’s one [option] that we’ll work with the city on in terms of what is the best option [and] what signage is the best option,” he said.

“Sometimes we can put a speed zone in place, but it doesn’t change the driver behaviour, so we’ve got to look at that type of thing as well.”
