Fire agencies are reminding Ballarat locals to be cautious when charging lithium-ion batteries, after a local house fire last week.
On Friday, an e-scooter was on charge when it exploded inside the kitchen and dining area of a Wendouree townhouse.
Luckily, the property was protected by fire crews and residents escaped harm.
Victorian fire crews are currently responding to lithium ion-battery fires every day, with Fire Rescue Victoria’s Kieran Lenehan saying products with rechargeable batteries should only be bought from reputable suppliers.
He also calls for locals to not overcharge electric devices, charge them on their own power point in the garage and switch them off overnight.
