A Ballarat councillor has suggested that last night’s fireworks at Lake Wendouree could be placed on a better date.
The fireworks once took place on Australia Day but were moved a number of years back to align with the Summer Sunday’s music event and the Road Nationals.
Councillor Samantha McIntosh has suggested New Years Eve could be a better time slot for the fireworks.
“I think people love the fireworks. They come out in thousands, usually 14,000+ turn up for it, so we know it’s a great event [and] we know that our community supports it,” she said.
“It’s about getting that date right and making sure we really have the correct time to be celebrating with such a spectacular show.”
