Ballarat residents warned as number of scams rise

Bendigo Bank’s Head of Fraud has warned Ballarat locals to stop, think and protect, as the frequency of scams rises.

Investment scams are now the most prevalent, followed by impersonation and PayID scams.

Jason Gordon says those in country areas tend to be tricked more often, because of a lack of education.

“Fraud’s generally relatively consistent across Australia, but what varies in certain pockets of our community is actually the level of awareness and education,” he said.
