Ballarat brew named country’s best independent beer

A number of local brews have snapped up gongs at the Australian Independent Beer Awards.

Dollar Bill Brewing’s peach sour ale Gold Teeth was named the country’s best independent beer, with the company also taking home silver in the sour, fruit and funk category for Candy Paint and Brambalama and bronze in the specialty beer category for their Ballarat Steam Ale.

O’Brien Beer scored gold for their stout and brown ale and silver awards for their XPA, Belgian ale, lager and pale ales.

Cubby Haus Brewing also took out bronze awards for their oatmeal stout and Scottish light.
