Transport Department trialing new road repair techniques

The Department of Transport says it is trying new techniques of road repair, as it battles to get on top of Ballarat’s pothole problem.

It comes as our wet winter has crews struggling to keep up, with water quickly washing away asphalt patching.

Michael Bailey from the Department says they continue to trial different surfaces and products.

“What we see is a lot of recycled rubber and glass in the road network now that we wouldn’t have seen 30, 40 years ago and that’s proving to hold really well, so we’ll continue to do that.”
