A Ballarat man is under police guard in hospital following a single-car crash in Melbourne.
The 25-year-old hit a power pole head-on in Coburg just before 9pm last night.
A 29-year-old female passenger from Bendigo was also taken to hospital, with the pair sustaining non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver is assisting police with their investigation and the circumstances surrounding the crash are yet to be determined.
